Random Ceremonies
Random Ceremonies brought together a loose community of Los Angeles artists working with ritual — altars, offerings, objects made to be used rather than only looked at.
The work draws on psychedelic experience and on spirit practice — visions recorded as pattern and color, eyes and cosmologies, installations built as shared space. Maria Calderon and Jordan Leonard Aiello-Schmidt’s Open Space held the center of the room; Matthew Morgan’s Infinity Eyeballs looked back at the viewer. What the artists have in common is a belief that making is a form of ceremony, and that a ceremony needs a group.
