A doubling of the first stable number. Thirty-three is the figure that recurs wherever people have tried to encode a system — degrees, vertebrae, years — the sort of number that attracts significance whether or not it was given any.
I'm interested in that attraction. The invisible architecture this series draws is partly physics and partly the patterns we insist on finding in it, and the two are not always separable. Hand-drawn, the numeral stops being notation and becomes a form with weight.
