Super Human
Super Human is a drawing about artificial intelligence disguised as a drawing about a coffee mug. The scale does the arguing: the cup is far larger than anything you could lift, let alone drink from, because thinking is what coffee is for — and this is a very large vessel for a very large subject. The words arrive pre-printed, the way most claims about the future do.
The frame belongs to the picture. It's bent steel rather than mitred, so the corners come round, and it's powder coated to sit in the same register as glazed ceramic — a hard industrial edge doing an excellent impression of something soft you drink from every morning. Sheet and frame together measure forty-four by forty-four inches.
Which gives eighty-eight. Two loops, closed: the ouroboros, the snake eating its own tail. A system trained on what people have already made, sold back to them as the next thing they'll make. I find that funny and I find it ominous, and colored pencil is slow enough to hold both at once.
