The veil between the earthly and the heavenly is thin in this whole series; here it is the subject. What separates the two states is not a wall but fabric — permeable, moving, and easier to see through than anyone expects.
Saturated until the surface glows. Colored pencil can build a translucence that reads as light rather than pigment, which is the only technical reason this drawing works.
