A Cold Embrace

Holding on to what has already gone cold — a posture everybody recognizes and almost nobody describes out loud. The affection is real and the object of it is over.
Drawn at length. The other two pieces here answer something too large with a gesture; this one answers it by not letting go, which is the same manoeuvre from the other side.
